Largest Export Categories
The State’s three largest export sales categories in 2008 were: 1) Natural Pearls and Stones; 2) Vehicles; and 3) Industrial Machinery and Computers.
The State’s three fastest growing export categories were: 1) Ores, Slag and Ash, up over 7,000%; 2) Explosives and Pyrotechnics, up 6,172% 3) Dairy Products up over 4,000%.

Most of the fastest growing exports to Italy were in the agriculture industry. Items such as dairy products, vegetables, and fish give strong credence to the strengths of the State beyond its life sciences and high tech industries.

Fastest Growing Products from Italy
The fastest growing imports from Italy were not subject to the wild swings that New Jersey exports were. In fact, the biggest increase was nickel products with a growth of 318% year-over-year.

Investment
In the area of Foreign Investment, there are currently 54 New Jersey companies with 464 offices in Italy. Nineteen Italian firms have 22 offices in New Jersey.
